The World’s Smallest Hands And Feet

without comments

I knew the decision to have youngsters would change my life. The first time it actually started to impact me was, believe it or not, selecting furniture for our first baby’s nursery. The entire house was decked out with pretty furniture, clean modern lines and edgy designs, where did a decorative play house fit into that? I was driven to give my baby an ordinary youth, but could I do it without giving up the elegance my home?

As expected I knew that metal sculptures possibly would not be the best nursery accessory, particularly when this tiny one was active. So I turned to some more conventional ways of decoration. I found a brilliant carpenter who was a year away from retirement and made his final days a great challenge! From a toy box with complicated woodcarving to cute carvings lining the cot, I fit attractive detail in where ever I could.

During my first trip to the local baby store, I was let down. I had been expecting a wide range, more than I could see in a day. Unfortunately I was in a small city and we were lucky to have just two baby stores. So I started searching online and before long I found precisely what I was after. From inspiring second hand pieces that just needed a coat of French polish to be functional to trendy toys in bronzes, it was all out there on the internet.

Seven months in I had bought just about everything, from cloth nappies (and on second thought disposable nappies) to all the standard baby accessories. The baby shower endowed me with a massive variety of carefully and lovingly chosen gifts, from boutique crayons and gift vouchers for bassinets to disposable nappies. But the best gift of all was a baby sculpture kit from my sister in law, a present I could not wait to use.

After a trouble free birth, I brought my dear daughter home for the first time. Just before her first bath at home, my husband and I made some of the greatest baby sculptures I have ever seen. Her little hands and feet all fit on the same bit of clay! Then we had to break out a canvas and our just bought body paints for another initiation rite, bum prints!

Safety Tips For Wooden Playpens

without comments

As adults regularly use wooden playpens to let their babies play in while they attend to their household chores, its necessary that the following tips are followed to ensure the playpen security.

  • The first safety tip to follow is not to leave your baby unattended in the playpen for too long. Though most wooden playpens are safe to use, you should always keep an eye on your baby while in the playpen.

  • When your baby is in the playpen, you must make sure that it is securely locked. Failure to do this could mean that the sides become loose and if this happens, your baby could escape.

  • Your baby should not be able to get to the latches and bolts on the wooden playpen. If accessible, your baby may not only try to come out of the playpen, but may also get its fingers pinched by them.

  • The gap in between the slats of wooden playpens should be less than 2.4 inches or 6.1cm. If the gaps were any wider, then you could find that your baby’s head gets caught.

  • The wood on your playpen should be splinter free and should be very smooth to touch.

  • If your wooden playpen has a rail covering, then you need to may sure that you check this often to make sure that the baby has not ripped or chewed this fabric. Use cloth tape to repair any rips your baby makes.

  • You may think that using extra bedding is a good idea because it will increase the comfort levels of your baby but there is a risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome so this is best avoided.

  • It is okay to leave toys in the playpen. However leaving large toys in the playpen could mean that your baby will use them to get out of the playpen if it is unattended. You should never ever leave toys with strings in the playpen as the baby could end up getting strangled accidentally.

When you are looking at having babies, almost all parents know how taxing this can be on the budget. When the little one decides it is time to pop into the world, the savings well and truly opens for a whole raft of merchandise, including baby high chairs and whatever accessories accompany them. Make certain you think about among the many leading types in baby accessory manufacturers, like Primo high chairs. And while you happen to be at it, you should take into consideration alternative baby products, including Prince Lionheart booster seats.

Wooden High Chair Pads And How They Provide Extra Comfort For Your Baby

without comments

When it comes to comfortably feeding your baby, a high chair is an essential item of furniture. High chairs are made using various materials like plastic, metal and wood. Even though all three materials are durable, it is the wooden high chair which will also win the style stakes.

However at times, its wooden seat can be uncomfortable for your baby. Luckily there are pads available for wooden high chairs which will help you to ensure that your baby gets some extra comfort from the high chair.

Available in most places

Your baby will enjoy the added comfort that a wooden high chair pad will give. Buying them is not a problem as they are easily available in many stores because it is a common need for most parents.

When it comes to these pads, there is so much choice so you are bound to find one to match your high chair. Its better to choose a washable pad as the pad can get messy while feeding, and will have to be washed to keep it clean.

Wooden high chair pads are also sold in many online stores. Just make a visit to these stores, choose the pad that most appeals to you, pay for it and it will reach your doorstep within a few days’ time.

Always measure the high chair

Before choosing a pad for your high chair, you have to remember to take a measurement of the high chair seat. A pad that is too large is no good as it will hang over the edge of the seat. Too small a padding also will not serve its purpose and leaves the seat uncomfortable once again.

Should you find that you cannot see a pad that you like, then you could always consider making one yourself. Materials for making a pad are easily available, with some time and effort; you will be able to get what you want to make your high chair comfortable for your baby to sit on.

3 Different Types Of High Chairs

without comments

Babies need certain nutrients in order to be sure that they develop properly and this is something that most parents will try to ensure no matter how hard it can be to feed the baby. With babies full of energy and always wanting to run around, the only way you will be able to feed your baby is by placing them in a high chair at feeding time.

A comfortable high chair is probably the best way to make sure that your baby will happily sit there while you feed him or her. While looking for the right high chair for your baby, you will find that there high chairs made from different materials, offering individual benefits.

Plastic Chairs The Practical Choice

If practicality is what you are searching for then you can’t go wrong with a plastic high chair because they are much easier to clean, easier to move about and they can be stored easily. But if you are looking for something a bit more stylish, then this is probably not going to be your first choice. And the plastic seat might not be very comfortable for your child.

Stylish Wooden Chairs

If you are looking for a stylish and classy high chair, a wooden chair is what you are looking for. Babies like sitting on the nice smooth finish of the wood and these are so aesthetically pleasing that they will complement almost any interior design.

The one major disadvantage of a wooden high chair is the fact that they don’t fold away and you need to have more room to accommodate them. Another problem with these high chairs is that they are not as easy to move around because of the weight of them.

Metal High Chairs The Petite Option

Metal high chairs are rather stylish and are smaller than wooden and plastic high chairs. Although metal high chairs are portable, they can also cause problems because they can be difficult to store if they don’t fold down properly.

However metal high chairs are easy to clean and as metal is durable, these high chairs last for many years.

What Is The First Bed Your Baby Should Have?

without comments

You will have a lot of choice when it comes to where you are going to put your baby to sleep for the first few months. When it comes to your baby’s first bed, you can choose from a hammock, Moses basket, carrycot or crib but you may want to borrow this instead of buying one as they will not be used for very long.

Moses Basket

A Moses basket is cozy, lightweight and secure for babies. Many Moses baskets are made from palm or maize but there are some which are made from wicker; this is more expensive but will last much longer. A Moses basket will come with handles on the side so they can be carried around and they will have a mattress, bedding and a hood. This bed will be cozy and secure for the baby but is not suitable for babies over the age of about two months so it can work out quite expensive.

Carrycots

A lot of people will choose a carrycot for their baby’s first bed. If they come as part of a buggy or pushchair then they can be very economical. The only problem with a carrycot is that the mattress may not be adequate for the baby to sleep on at night time. If you want to use the carrycot, you may have to buy a firmer mattress separately.

Cribs

Cribs also provide a safe and comfortable sleeping environment for your baby. The fact that a crib can be rocked or swayed from side to side is the best thing about them as this can help the baby to sleep.

If you want something that will last for at least four to six months then a crib is a better option than the Moses Basket. But the lack of portability and the price will mean that many others will prefer to go for the Moses Basket.

Hammocks

A baby hammock is similar to any other hammock in that it is simply a sling hanging from a metal frame. It comes with sheets, mattress and a mattress cover, and can be gently rocked to make your baby sleep. The disadvantages of the hammock are that they are not really widely available, can only be used for a couple of months and they are quite expensive.

Blankets And Sheets For Babies And Tips For Buying Them

without comments

When it comes to the best bedding for a newborn baby, you should always go for cotton cellular blankets and cotton sheets. These are the best choice because of the fact that they allow the baby to sleep more comfortably because they can be layered easily.

With layers, you can add and remove them when you need to and this helps you to control the baby’s temperature. If you choose to improvise, instead of buying cotton sheets, you can cut and hem sheets from an old adult bed sheet. You will actually probably find that older sheets are more comfortable for a baby’s delicate skin than a new sheet.

Should you choose acrylic or cotton?

Cotton sheets are usually made of traditional woven cotton, stretched cotton terry, brushed flannelette that is warm to the touch or cotton jersey. To avoid the sheet from coming undone when the baby is sleeping, most parents will go for stretch fitted cotton terry sheets. Another reason for choosing a fitted cot sheet is because it will be much easier to put on and take off the bed.

If you have a house that is particularly cold, then it might be better to use acrylic cellular blankets as opposed to cotton cellular blankets because they will keep your baby warmer. If you prefer using traditional wool blankets, well and good. But before you buy these blankets you need to check if they can be machine washed.

Buying sleeping bags

One thing you might want to buy for your baby is a sleeping bag because these are a great way to ensure that your baby doesn’t get cold during the night and therefore wake up. You will be able to buy these sleeping bags for your newborn as well as for babies up to the age of around two years old. You also won’t need too many cotton sheets for your baby’s bed if you use a sleeping bag.

It is inadvisable to buy these sleeping bags with hoods and you have to make sure the size of the neck on the bag fits the baby to prevent the baby from slipping down into the bag. You are also advised not to use duvets or quilts with a sleeping bag as you could run the risk of your baby overheating.

How to chooseBaby Bedding Set for Your Marvelous Baby

without comments

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4

When it’s time to get bedding for your newbornthe only thing that can guarantee optimum baby bedding

safety and coziness to your baby is your only option and 100% cotton fabric is

your best choice.

Below are descriptions of the different types of crib bedding available for each type of

baby furniture.

- Crib Bedding. For the early year of the baby’s life, the crib is its ideal bed. Beddings comes in many different types and we choose them for their durability and strength.

There are the standart bedding sets or a more expensive crib such as a convertible / portable crib which is ideal for traveling. It is best to buy the crib from a reputable company and make sure that it has no protruding pieces that can hurt the baby. All screws and bolts etc need to be securly fastened and you should check these often.

- Bassinet Bedding. These are the choice for babies under 5 months. A good bassinet will have a soft mattress and a blanket. It should be made of a soft

material with ideally the color blending with the baby’s room colors, design and decor.

- Cradle bedding. Cradles have a gentle rocking motion which to make sure that your baby can sleep soundly. Light colored cradles are preferred by parents because they not only easily fit with most decor but it is easy to notice when they get wet.

- Baby blankets. Blankets should be of a soft material and of course must be non-toxic. Nowadays there are many types of blankets to choose from that are soft, smooth and pleasant smelling with attractive and eye pleasing colors for boy or girl.

Baby bedding also has a boy or girl model, or alternatively it could be gender neutral as well. The color combinationand cute looking cartoons are common to both the baby boys and baby girls.

A girl’s baby bedding is often in shades of pink, light blue and purples, and a baby girl’s bed is laid out fit for a princess. For the boy, the crib is often painted with superheores figures, wrestler figures, basketball or baseball stars. The colors tend to be darker and bolder for boys, often blue but also reds and intermingled with dark blue or black.

There is no hard and fast rule for baby bedding. There are a lot of neutral themes with Disney characters and cute animations.

In the first few years, baby is too small to understand the difference about having gender specific cartoons and animals because they are attracted to anything which is colorful; if you like it and makes you smile, it will do the same for your baby. There will come the time when little boys would feel a little awkward having his bed done in pinks and pastels!

When baby girls grow older, their bedroom could have blinds with the curtains hanging

on rods above. This gives the bed somewhat a princess bed appearance – after all, that

baby girls of yours is a princess, isn’t she!

Bedding is one interesting aspect where there are a lot of options for the parent – choosing the kinds and textures of sheets and the choices of colors and baby bedding patterns. It is up to you if you choose gender neutral baby bedding or something which would make your baby girl feel like a princess or your baby boy feel like a superhero!

Little One’s Bedding

without comments

In this article on how to find the ideal toddler bedding, it must be neither too firm nor too soft. In the past, sudden baby death syndrome was credattri to very soft baby bedding. This happened when the toddler’s mattress is too soft that his nose and mouth gets covered and the air he exhales is the air he breathes. This is dangerous for him since he breath carbon dioxide rather than oxygen and the effects could lead to tiredness, coma or even death.

There are a lot of styles and makes in choosing the baby’s bed..  The three major selections are: a bassinet, a crib or a cradle.  What differentiates one from the other? A bassinet is an oblong-shaped basket that serves as a bed for an kid. But sometimes, round bassinets are also on hand. A crib is a bed that is flanked with high side bars for a baby or young child’s safety. Cribs are typicallymore cost-effective since the baby can use it from early years to two years. While a cradle is a small low bed that an baby uses that has rockers on its stand.  In all these, the material used to make the equipment should alert and signal to the mom how much safety defense are needed.

Bassinets are usually lacey and full of trimmings.  The newborn bedding must fit the bassinet so that the toddler’s space is enough for him or her to be able to roll from side to side. The crib is as a rule square, thus, mattresses can be fitted to the size of the crib. The child bedding typically is a set of coverlet and small pillows. Hotdog pillows can also be placed inside. But, the pillows should not be more than two or three lest the kid can stand on them and could fall over. The cradle can come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Some moms rather cradles so that when the child is cranky, he or she can be rocked to be calmed down. The toddler bedding for a cradle should follow the shape of it.  Not much can be placed inside it since it is used mainly to rock the baby to sleep. However, one need not the three to keep the toddler safe, warm and secure. One will do and this would depend on the parent’s preference.  The most preferred would be the crib since it can be used for a long time.

Now that we’ve enclosedthe vital equipment, how do we provide it with baby bedding? We have previously recognized that the baby bedding should fit the inactive equipment to stay away from accidents and other inconvenient unpleasant episodes. The most proper material to use is cotton as it is absorbent and cool to the baby’s skin.

Because of your online business interest in baby music, you may also want to look into baby pool online resources. I would like to mention three web sites that are totally unrelated to baby clothes but which you may find that can help you to learn how to rotate content on your blog or website for someone else or see how explosive the works toilet bowl cleaner can be and of course not that it have anything in common with your interest in baby videos but I thought you could benefit from learning how to discover the fastest way to burn fat.  Hope you found the article about babies names resourceful. To learn more about names for baby girls, please bookmark my web site as we regularly post new information to our site about baby meaning.
